GAE-OpenSocial


We are happy to tell you about our beta version of GAE-Shindig. This is our first step towards providing infrastructure for those who wish to host OpenSocial apps or gadgets in Google environment. It’s based on Shindig for PHP.
For all those who don’t know about Shindig, it is a project in the Apache Software Foundation's incubator that aims to provide an open source reference implementation of the entire OpenSocial stack.

Why GAE-Shindig?

GAE-Shindig is basically a ported implementation of PHP-Shindig.

It supports version 0.7 of OpenSocial and gadgets. GAE-Shindig interests those people who want to host OpenSocial Apps or gadgets in Google environment on Google App Engine

Google App Engine is Google's computing cloud and lets you run your web applications on Google's infrastructure. App Engine costs nothing to get started. Sign up for a free account, and you can develop and publish your application for the world to see, at no charge and with no obligations but with some limits for more information please click here

So, everything is free with great scalability and trust of Google.
Your application resides on the same scalable systems that powers Google applications.
Also you can deploy your app using a free domain name on the appspot.com, or use Google Apps to serve it from your own domain.
This creates more interest of using GAE-Shindig, isn’t it?
